Anyone who’s ever tried to fit a home repair project into their busy lifestyle knows that things always go smoother with a schedule. The same can be said for around-the-house tasks, too. Even the most simple home maintenance tasks—from greasing your garage door wheels to deep-cleaning the attic and checking on your roof —can sometimes fall by the wayside without a proper place in your calendar. January is the best month to tackle the following three home maintenance tasks...

1) Grease Those Garage Door Wheels

Did you know you can extend the life of your overhead garage doors through regular care and maintenance? If you have an overhead garage door, make sure to lubricate the spring wheels and rollers once a year. If you're not sure where to find the materials, regular garage door lubricant can be found at any local hardware store.

2) Deep Clean the Attic

Before you finally move those boxes of Christmas decor back up to the attic, give it a good going over. Vacuum, dust, and knock down any cobwebs and check for pests to make sure to get ahead of any problems. If your attic is really in bad shape, you can always hire an attic cleaning service as well. 

3) Schedule a Roof Evaluation

Before the year starts flying by, this a great time to schedule a roof evaluation. A local professional can evaluate your roof for cracks, weather damage, give an estimate for cleaning, and let you know if there's anything you should be aware of.
